Book Field of Bones: A Brady Novel of Suspense (Joanna Brady Mysteries Book 18) Review :

I have always enjoyed Ms. Jance's books, however this time I quit reading less than half way through. Ms. Jance used this book to put forward her Trump inspired views on border security and women. I am well aware that after the last few years that I am touchy regarding these subjects, but to make such an effort to simplify these issues down to black and white as she does is a slap in the face to her readers who have more understanding of their complexity. I could not continue reading knowing I might have to contend with more of her divisiveness.
Was it really a Johanna Brady story? Most of the book is devoted to a gruesome tale of kidnapping and abuse described in too graphic details. Johanna plays absolutely no part in the solution of that drama in spite of pages and pages of rehashed episodes of her life and developments on the joys of motherhood. In short, it could have been a standalone. Of course the Brady name made for a larger readership. Not fair.
